SCHOLARSHIP

JOHN D. WARD SCHOLARSHIP FUND

John D. Ward, M.D., M.S.H.A

When providers are exposed to the challenges and rewards that come with serving populations with many barriers to care, they never view the practice of medicine quite the same—in a good way!

This scholarship was established in the name of John D. Ward, a Pediatric Neurosurgeon based in Richmond, Virginia, known for organizing and executing medical mission trips to serve communities in Central America. Physicians in training played a major part in delivering care on these trips, returning home with a new perspective and true appreciation for medicine.

THE JOHN D. WARD SCHOLARSHIP SERVES TWO PURPOSES:

  1. Send healthcare providers in training/beginner healthcare providers on every service trip.

  2. Create partnerships with local organizations in the communities we serve to strengthen their local infrastructure and grow their capacity for great healthcare.
